Who am I?
Hello. I'm Graham, and GDW Wood Designs is my business located in Buckinghamshire in a modest, but very well equipped workshop, and is born from my passion for handmade, creative and unique items. With a professional background in graphic design, I have been interested in working with materials of all kinds but my love for wood outweighed all others. It started as a keen hobby, designing and making custom furniture designs for my home. Having received such satisfaction from this and with the many positive comments received for my home furniture, I felt a natural progression to begin designing and constructing products for customers, and become a custom furniture manufacturer with a difference.
There is nothing I like more than creating new products so, If you do have something in mind that you cannot find anywhere else then, get in touch, and I will aim to bring that idea to reality.
What I do
BESPOKE
If you would like some home furniture designed and built just give me some of your time to discuss your requirements/ specifications and I can make it happen. I use 3D design software to create accurate renders and images of the custom furniture designs to allow you to view exactly how it will look prior to the build. I use this software along with my sketch pad and pencil to create all of my products as it allows me to visualise what the product will look like before I build it whether it be a Mirror, Picture Frame or in this case a double bed, it is an asset to be able to use as a furniture manufacturer.
CUSTOMISABLE
I strive to be different. I do not follow Pinterest and take interest in what others do as I like to only be influenced by my own imagination so the custom furniture designs you purchase will be (as far as I know) a one of a kind. The customisation is only the limit of your imagination so if you have an idea of some home furniture you would like to have created then run it past me and you may find that it might just be possible.
QUALITY
All the home furniture products I produce are made by hand with the help of some top of the line power tools and hand woodworking tools. No large industrial machinery are utilised in any of my custom furniture designs. This does take extra time but it allows me to personalise myself with each and everything I design and build thus if I am not happy with it, it is not good enough for you, as my standards are high, always.
SOURCING GOOD MATERIAL
Oak is by far my favourite of hardwoods used for my custom furniture designs. This is a stack of Oak timber I have in my workshop that has just been processed by hand. I source some of my timber in a raw sawn condition or "green" as it is known, which allows me to process it to uncover its beauty.
